eSolar raises additional capital

30 July 2009

eSolar has expanded a recent funding round to $35M, according to a regulatory filing by the company.

According to a report filed by socaltech.com, the company had raised $30 million from Indian firm ACME Group back in March. It appears that the additional capital comes as an extension of the same funding deal.

eSolar and ACME Group are in a deal to build 1,000 MW of solar power plants over the next 10 years in India. eSolar also named ACME as a master licensee of its technology in India.

eSolar designs and develops CSP projects that start at 46MW and are scalable to any size.

Belen (not verified) says ...
I am not at all convinced e-solar's design is better than parabolic trough, which is well-proven. Direct water systems are hugely less efficient making power than higher temperature troughs with heat transfer fluids. These systems make plenty of steam, but lose the energy in parasitic load. I think e-Solar is an charming story (charade) just like Ausra, which also used direct steam, but not convincing as a cost-effective way to make electricity. It will take several years to demonstrate the merit.
